11th Grade - the Dating Years

I'm continuing to write my personal history, linking up here:

I turned 16 the summer before my Junior year in High School and could now "legally" date.  I had my first "official" date with Kevin S.

Most all of my Junior year I was dating Greg.  I had had a crush on him for over a year.  We went on a few actual dates, most of which I would call "creative".  We mostly saw each other at school where everyone knew we were boyfriend/girlfriend.  Greg lived in the town about 30 miles away and, like almost all the kids from there, rode the bus to and from school, so we didn't hang out too late after school during the week, but we would occasionally on weekends.

We went to the Junior Prom together and were also dance partners (our small town has a tradition that there is a choreographed dance show put on by the entire Junior class).

I did Varsity Cheerleading this year and we had fun traveling to the U.S. for most of the Football and Basketball games.

I was in a Choir and Performing Arts class this year.  I was also in a play "Go West Young Man", which was fun, because I got to "pretend" to be madly in love with Greg, who was one of the lead actors.

Me (far right) making googley eyes at Greg in "Go West Young Man".

At the end of my Junior Year, someone donated money to the school to sponsor a "Science Trip" for the top 8 Junior and Senior science students.  This trip was Amazing!  We flew to San Francisco and stayed in the Marriott Hotel downtown.  We visited the NASA-Ames testing Center, Linear Accelerator and Electron collider,  (at Stanford), visited the "Exploritorium", a Space and Science Museum and I'm sure a few other places.

More "touristy" things we did was to visit the Oakland temple, Redwood Forest, took a cruise ship on the Bay, Fisherman's Wharf, walked across the Golden Gate Bridge, etc.  It was a FUN trip.  A great reward for being nerds! :)
