This week's post is my memories from 8th grade.
My eighth grade was still at Waldo Middle School. This year we were the "big kids" and we could boss the 7th graders around!
This year I got my first perm (as you can see from my picture:)
I also played on the school's volleyball team. We were undefeated with a season of 5 - 0, and were the city champs!

This year I added Home Crafts, Sewing I and being a Classroom aide to Mr. Luke to my schedule (in addition to all the core classes I took last year).
I was on the Honor Roll and got a 3.86 GPA both semesters.
This year also has a not-too-pleasant memory of being home alone with my sister (18) and her fiancée (18) when they were "fighting". My sister was home from a semester at college and they were in her room, next door to my room, and I could hear everything they were saying. My sister was trying to break up with him. Then I heard him hit her. It was a scary experience, one that still haunts me today.
In the end, I guess it was fortunate that I was there, because my parents, nor anyone in my family knew that he was abusive (but his family knew). In fact, the only thing I knew to do was run to my parents room and call his mom. The first thing she said when she heard my voice was, "Is he hitting her again?" I was stunned. I couldn't believe that this had happened before and that no-one in my family knew. It all ended well. An intervention took place and my sister got away from him and moved on to later marry into a much healthier relationship.
On a happier note, in the spring of this year, my parents went on a trip to Europe with my dad's brothers and sisters. Since I was the only child home at this point, my parents had a young woman, who was a graduate student, come stay at our house each night. Kim was a ton of fun. She let me drive her car (in the High School parking lot), and we had a few fun sleepovers and crazy adventures while my parents were away. I even have an illustrated story I wrote for my English class chronicling some of our awesome adventures!
