In fifth grade had one of my favorite teachers, Ms. Warner. My older sister had also had her as a teacher. I remember giving her massages during class (looking back I can't really believe we did all this). She let her us get away with a lot if we gave her massages :)
This year we started keeping a journal. It was interesting to go back and read through it. I recognized some "bullying" techniques that some girls used. At that age you don't realize what's going on. At one point Mrs. Warner had all the girls involved (around 12 of us) go in a back room and "work things out". It was an emotional roller-coaster not knowing who would be your "friend" from one day to the next.
I played on a basketball team with the YMCA. My older sister, Leilani (16) was our coach. I don't think we won a single game - but we had fun.
I also got first runner up in the school spelling bee this year.
This year I also broke my first bone - in my foot. I had to be on crutches for 6 weeks. I remember it was during the winter and it was hard to use the crutches on the ice covered ground.
I also found out half-way through the year that my dad would be changing positions with his job and we would be moving to Salem, Oregon over the summer.
